So in a photography group I am in on Facebook, this topic was brought up about what a moodboard is and what the heck it looks like and how do you make it.
So what the heck is a moodboard anyways? Is it needed?
Basically, a mood board(for photography) is a collection of images or drawings and text all put together to show the overall theme on an upcoming shoot you are planning. It can be fairly simple to just showing a few overall images or drawings, to going over every detail of the shoot. From hair, to model, to makeup, to poses, etc. It is up to you how elaborate you want your mood boards to be.
Is it needed? no, but it will certainly help your team to all be on the same track as to what is the objective for your shoot.
Yeah yeah great !! You have explained it to me, but what the heck does it look like?????
Here are some past moodboards I have done. Now, yours don’t have to be as decorative as some of mines(that’s just how I am), but hopefully this helps you understand how to do them now :)
(Normally these aren’t public, just for the team, but of course I had to show samples teehee :P )
Hope this helps a few people !!!
Didn’t want to talk about this until I got final confirmation… which I got today :)
These images will be published in the popular print UK Photography magazine ‘Practical Photography’ and will be on newstands and Ipad on November 28th…
Taking it back to basics..
